PoE Extenders

There are PoE extenders and PoE extenders...

So far, one was great, and two were poor:

"Gigabit Power-over-Ethernet Extender, PoE Passthrough Switch"

Several of these were bought from Anazon for £75-90 over the last couple of years.

They are not cheap, but work at 10, 100 and 1000mbps.

There is no management capability, nor "VLAN" or "length extension" switches, but it just works:

Sadly there's no real make or model on the device, so I can only go by my previous order or check the picture when re-ordering.

PoE Passthrough Switch, 1 PoE in 3 PoE Out Extender, IEEE802.3af/at PoE Powered, 100Mbps Ethernet, din-rail & Wall Mount

£20 from Amazon, July 2024

Although it's not listed as such, I think the make is "Binardat".

Front, showing 4 ports and the "VLAN" switch

Note that on the bottom, it specifically says it supports 10mbps:

Back of unit, specifically saying it supports 10mbps

however, when 10mbps devices were plugged in, no traffic is passed, although the LEDs flash like there is activity.

This device will be returned to Amazon.

Binardat Outdoor Gigabit PoE Passthrough Switch, 1 PoE in 4 PoE Out Extender, IEEE802.3af/at/bt PoE Powered 90W, 10/100/1000Mbps Ethernet, Wall Mount Waterproof Plug and Play, 1000M OUTDOOR 5 PORT

£30 from Amazon, July 2024

Note, this also says on the bottom that it supports 10mbps.

Again, when 10mbps devices are connected, the LEDs flash, but no traffic is passed.

This device will also be returned to Amazon.
